2012 will be an interesting year, I’m sure. Beats seem to be taking centre stage again, and that’s what it’s all about! Next year will see my first original release (SometimesSean – Batty Boy (Walk Like/Talk Like)) on the label, that brings together hardcore, ragga and juke. Check through on the Facebook page.
Out Now. Release 2 from our sub label, Flytronik7, DJ Enfusion – Neighbourhood Dub (buy). This foray into dubstep drags nightmare rave noises kicking and screaming through coarse beats and bass and twisted FX. abel head, SometimesSean, gets spaced out and frantic with his juke remix. A sound that makes those odor-eater insoles well worth the spend, but can’t help with the inevitable blistering from the hyper style footwork.
Pumping juke action is the order of the day in Prime Slime’s Slime Me a River EP (buy). The first track “BOB” (Big Ol’ Booty, what else?) is more your typical, al beit sped up, ghetto house track, with a huge rave influence. As the EP goes on, things juke out more. The r’n'b influenced “The Future” being most notable, which has a DJ Roc feel to it. On remix duty, Kaptain Cadillac gives Fruit y Booty the ghetto tech treatment whilst Mister Reis takes a different ghetto house/juke approach to The Future.
Just out on Booty Call Records, the Nightmare Juke Squad member shows how sh*t goes down in Paris. Booty Call is one of the greatest ghetto labels outside of the US and this release will re-enforce that image.
DJ Ayres drops some mad exotecha style riddims for a his latest rub on T&A. This is serious sh*t to have in your set for any fan of pure unadulterated, intoxicating, ravenous club beats.
We are close to releasing the second Flytronik7 single to the usual download stores like beatport, itunes, juno etc… but wait, we have an unusual offering this time around. Instead of shifting this out to the top name DJ’s to garner support, we instead are releasing the promo on Soundcloud to all our crew, ground level! This means you can get the promo shoot and start pimping out the track before it hits the shops. All we ask in return is for a little bit of feedback. So play it, blog it, rinse it out and feedback.
DJ Enfusions foray into dubstep drags nightmare rave noises kicking and screaming through coarse beats and bass and twisted FX. This is surely one to wake up the ket heads! With SometimesSean hot on the heels with a juked out remix for the raver with more maneuverable feet.
King Kong has made a massive impression on me over the last year. He continually pumps out free and quality tracks, track after track. This time he’s grabbed the famous and infectious Tetris theme tune and gave it a good going over, moombahton style. The last time I heard Tetris in a club track was when I was about 12! (Dr Spin – Tetris for anyone that cares to Youtube that!). King Kong – Tetris (Original Mix) by kkingkong
The third and final installment of the freemix series for K.GoL’s Shell Game is up now on Soundcloud. Thanks go to my Baltimore bro – DJ Jonny Blaze, who’s turned the heat right up for this mega ghetto bouncer!
Flore’s remix of Bert on Beats – Shika feat. Anbuley (of Ghana), or Bert on Beats – Shika feat. Anbuley (Flore Faya Remix) to give it it’s proper title, is finally out with the remix album of Antenna of Tallinn! Dragging fidgety raveyness kicking and screaming through African percussion is the order of the day on this Kuduro styled outing. Flore once again proves she is queen of the beats and bass, and Man Recordings stays shining through as one of the 21st century’s greatest record labels.
With flawless mixes and a sound that blends tech, soul and classic house vibes with splashes of hipster beats, Bruxism (aka Major Havoc), is possibly my number 1 mix tape pimp atm! I look forward to a Bruxism mix in much the same way I always look forward to a FabricLive mix CD, but Raky always hits the nail on the head with his delivery, mixing in and out of mellow vibes and dance floor beat – plus they’re free so I’m never out of pocket, lol. This one I can see being on my iPod for months and no doubt will be returned to on regular occasions. Big up the man in Bayonne!
