Pressure Drop is back!

The Pressure Drop crew are back in Cov this week after a brief away period due to the Playtime Warehouse closing. However, good partnerships are meant to last and Playtimes new venue, The Basement Club at Bar No.3, holds host to the Dubstep and Drum & Bass festivals resident bass mechanics.

Flexing the subs on the night will be Snypa D, Noizee B, Superslim, Thought, Fury, React and OB1 with host MC’s Ruption and Detanata. Bring Colour are also brightening up Fairfax St with live graffiti. Pressure Drop always make it go off which makes this a night worth leaving the hide-out for.

[Free album] I.D. & Baobinga album – Bass Music Sessions

A couple of years back, Baobinga had a little feature in iDJ magazine where he was asked to define his music. He quite simply called it bass music – A term perhaps a little bemusing to the breaks community in which he grew. This obvious name however turned out to be quite the epoch as within a small length of time bass music seems to be the umbrella term of choice for some of today’s most exciting artists.

Another big turnaround for musicians in general is the advent of the free album. In a sense, there just isn’t that much money in recorded music anymore, so in an attempt to expand artists fan bases, free albums are primed and pimp to the new era of digital music digging enthusiasts.

ID & Baobinga’s free album ‘Bass Music Sessions’ dropped this week, and it couldn’t have came at a better time! The co-op ran bassmusicblog.com has grown into the essential blog of choice for many underground party goers, producers and DJ’s and this album defines what the varied forms of bass music are all about, from the kuduro led Man Down to twitched out but mellow drum and bass of The King . Get your mittens on it here and spread the low end laden love.

DJ Zinc feat Ms Dynamite – Wile Out

I can’t believe how good this track is! It’s a reality check. Hoping this does really well for Zinc. Go buy it, don’t share it, and prove to the public there is more to life than Jedwad!

Chase the Devil (Cumbia re-rub)

Max Romeo
Max Romeo

Now this is just nice! The rhythms and sounds of cumbia are becoming well known in DJ circles, and in the home region of South America (Colombia being the motherland) there are as many sub-forms of cumbia as there are types of breaks music in UK. So you can imagine there’s a lot to get schooling on if you’re a European native.

However there are already plenty of European DJ’s and producers who divulge in the global street music sounds. Belgium’s Tupolev Sound Crash for example have re-riddemed the popular sample filled tune Chase the Devil by Max Romeo, and also dropped a mix on their Soundcloud. Essential listening, and hopefully a taste for a bit more digging.

J-tek release preview: DJ Enfusion – Spiritual Technology

DJ Enfusion

DJ Enfusion has been busy carving a name out for his incredible drum & bass work on Fly Beat Music and Cadence Records. With Spiritual Technology he launches the new sub label of Fly Beat Music – Flytronik7, a label that will focus on the deeper, tech and dubwise side of the rave scene.

Jungle techno is a sound that has made a massive come back over the last couple of years thanks to the likes of Modular & Outrage, Ratty & Tango, Randall, Pilgrim and a whole host of other. Now going under the title of J-tek, the new sound drags the old skool straight into 2010 with crisp production techniques and new influences. DJ Enfusions Spiritual Technology captures the essence of the 92-94 rave movement, with a deep melodic bassline, an underlying four to the floor beat, and the all important infectious breakbeat that ups the ante for many new school producers.

Full release penned in for around March with a mad, mad Mike Lennon dubstep remix.

Flore – Feel Me video (NSFW)

Crikey, after the post the other day Flore has managed to blow me even further away with this raunchy vid, banned from MTV, banned by my g/f and no doubt soon to be banned from youtube.

WARNING: This vid has tits and bondage type themes in it, so be careful at work/in front of your mum etc… etc…

Flore – Feel Me (Barefoot remix)

Flore has dropped a heavy remix of her latest release – Feel Me feat Shunda K of Yo Majesty!. Transgressing tempos between kuduro and a drum & bass track this is sure to throw any dancefloor into a frenzy. The vocal floats really well over the bass, pulling your head away from your feet in a way that feels almost euphoric. Most notably this remix represents the barefoot sound which just keeps churning out really interesting club tracks at the moment. We love Flore for sure, and with an imminent album heading for the shelves via Botichit & Scarper, this girl is one to watch in 2010!
